WEEKLY MINISTRIES AT UGBC

Sunday Morning Breakfast and Sunday School: Devin Johnson serves breakfast at 9:00 AM in the church kitchen on Sunday mornings. This is followed at 9:15 by several Sunday School classes: Jimmy Brinkley teaches elementary school, Sam and Heather Robinson teach Junior High and High School, Sandy McMullen and Diana Armstrong teach the Women’s class, Doug and Sonja McMullen teach the Couples’ class, and Pastor Larry Lengyel teaches the Men’s class.

Sunday Worship Service: The service begins at 10:30 and usually ends at 11:30. Dress is casual or formal, depending on personal preference. Worship consists of both hymns of faith and contemporary praise performed on acoustic instruments. Pastor Faber’s sermons are always scripture-focused and usually based on the New King James version of the Bible, with occasional use of other translations.

Wednesday Evening Events : Wednesday evenings begin with prayer in Pastor Faber's Study at 5:30, all Prayer Warriors are welcomed. A covered dish meal is served at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall, followed at 6:30 by a time of worship led by Pastor Scott and a Bible Study by Pastor Faber. The Bible study usually correlates with the sermon given on Sunday. The youth meet at 6:30 for teaching and fellowship in the youth area.

Fifth Sunday Fellowship: UGBC holds a “Fifth Sunday Fellowship” on every fifth Sunday of the month, performing Old-time hymns and Gospel music. It is followed by a covered dish luncheon in the Fellowship Hall.

MINISTERING IN THE COMMUNITY

Youth Night: Our community outreach includes events such as our Youth Night held from 4-6 PM once a month, consisting of activities and games, Bible study, campfires, and refreshments.

Christian Concerts: We occasionally hold community concerts of Christian musicians such as Contemporary Christian musician Bob Bennett, the Heath Brothers Gospel trio, and the Purple Hulls Bluegrass Band.

GCMA: We are actively involved with the Grimes County Ministers’ Association and have the opportunity to participate several times a year in events such as faith festivals, prayer walks, and community worship services.

Gardens of Faithfulness: Our church members Sam and Heather Robinson hold “Gardens of Faithfulness” seminars srrobinson44@gmail.com with the goal of growing, not only an abundance of food in a small space, but faith towards God in the hearts of the gardeners. Gardening was in fact the first job that was ever given to mankind: “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it” (Gen. 2:15).

OTHER UGBC EVENTS

Trail Rides: Since many of us live on farms and ranches and have horses, several times a year we plan trail rides on back roads and paths through members’ fields and woods. All who have horses are welcome to join (proof of Coggins required).

Helping Our Neighbor: We encourage our members to aid those in the church and community who need our practical help as we are commanded to do: And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap (a spiritual reward) if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith (Gal. 6:9-10). As well, there are opportunities to serve our church body by volunteering for the nursery, coordinating the parking, kitchen cleanup, and to help out on church workdays (see the church calendar for scheduling).

Growing Closer to God: Sweet fellowship is found in all these ministries, wherein we actively live out our faith in communion with each other, and encourage one another to become more like Christ: And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day (of Christ’s return) drawing near (Heb. 10:24-25, ESV)
