Where Is Your Faith?

Unlike most messages, this sermon is a direct outgrowth of my personal devotions. Usually I keep a “firewall” between sermon work for a congregation and my own spiritual growth.

I need my own “manna from heaven. ”But sometimes something from my own devotions “bleeds through.” Here’s how things got started.
• About a year ago, the story of the calming of the sea was part of my daily text
• I remember it well, sitting on the back porch, watching the thunderheads grow
• A storm cell would soon form over my son’s College Station house
• Eventually his family of five would huddle in their “safe room” in a stair well
• And I knew, just like the disciples, that I did not have faith to believe God would keep my grandkids safe
• I felt frustrated and weak. Should my faith not be stronger?
